When the rogue first commences the game, her statistics are; strength, 20; dexterity, 30; magic, 15; and vitality, 20. With lots of dungeon shooting and lots of milk, her numbers grew and grew, eventually reaching strength, 55; magic, 70; dexterity, 250; and vitality, 80.
The Rogue is the undisputed master of the bow, a fierce adversary from a distance. With her incredible rate of fire and uncanny accuracy, why use anything else but the bow? Only use a sword if it's early in the game, you have quality armor, and you find a superpowered magical sword. Otherwise, you'll find your trusty bow does just as much damage, with less damage done to you. The key to the Rogue is to avoid hand-to-hand combat as much as possible.
Although dexterity is the most important attribute for the Rogue (it raises her accuracy), raising her strength can be extremely helpful. Increasing strength will increase the amount of damage she does with each arrow shot, as well as make it possible for her to wield more effective bows and wear superpowered armor on the lower levels.
In combat, mastering effective firing angles is essential. To ensure the most direct hits, position yourself straight-on when dispatching your foes from a distance. Firing from angles, for some reason, is less effective. It almost goes without saying that it is crucial to use the Shift key in combination with the mouse. Holding down Shift and left-clicking will fire the bow in the direction that the mouse cursor indicates without moving your character in that direction.
When the going gets tough, don't be afraid to turn tail and run! This is true in all stages of the game--Rogues just don't have the health to withstand a heavy beating. Plus, with the Rogue's ability to kill creatures from a distance, you can outrun faster monsters and then shoot them down while they try to catch up to you.
Another effective tactic is leading your enemies when they start scrambling around. Fire shots just in front of them, so the arrows connect with the creatures as they move. Something else to keep in mind is that the Rogue fires so rapidly that it's easy to get ahead of yourself. When you switch targets, she may still fire a few shots at her old target.
Since the Rogue can hit targets off the screen, fire a few arrows into an unseen area before storming in; if there are monsters in there, you'll hear their screams, and you may even be able to take out a few of them. And don't forget to clear out rooms by firing your arrows through the grates of secured rooms.
An effective spell for the Rogue is the Fire Wall--cast four of these in a row, then stand back and pluck off those ugly monsters as they wade through the heat.
While you're going through the dungeons, make sure you take out every Frost Charger you see-the rogue doesn't take those rhino-like creatures well.
